Reading FC academy prospect Tyrel Ashcroft has left the club to join Tottenham Hotspur.
The young full-back’s contract was up for renewal this summer but he has opted to sign for the Premier League club instead of extending his Royals deal.
Ashcroft made four first-team appearances for Reading last season, all of which came in the Championship.
He played two full 90 minutes, first up away at Millwall in November 2021 in a 1-0 defeat before another 1-0 defeat to West Bromwich Albion in December 2021.
Ashcroft then played 43 minutes in Reading’s 2-2 draw at home to Derby County in January and played 79 minutes when the Royals lost out 2-0 at the Select Car Leasing Stadium to Luton Town.
The 17-year-old has now joined Spurs and will join their development squad ahead of the 2022/23 season.
