A BUS in Reading was involved in a “minor incident” earlier today which left students at a school in Wokingham with minor injuries.
A Route 13 bus had to perform an emergency stop this morning, Thursday, September 12, when a motorist pulled out in front of the bus.
While the bus was able to continue, three students at Bulmershe School were checked for injuries by the school nurse, and a further two were sent home.
One of the students was left with a sore jaw.
A spokesperson for Reading Buses said: “There was a minor incident on the orange 13 to Woodley this morning which had a mixture of customers onboard including some school children who could have potentially been travelling to Bulmershe School.
“The incident was caused by a motorist pulling out in front of the bus which required the driver to stop quickly.
“The bus was able to continue after checking that everybody was OK to continue and mopping up a customer’s spilled cup of coffee.”
A message from Bulmershe School regarding the incident explained: “Unfortunately this morning a number 13 bus from Reading was involved in a road traffic accident with a car.
“This is a key transport route for students of the Bulmershe School.
“We have been made aware of 5 students who received injuries. Our medical team have assessed these students and families have been informed.
“We are also reaching out to other students who were on the bus at that time, or are friends with any of the students who were affected by this incident and will ensure they receive the support they need.
“We are also working with Reading Buses to obtain further information.”
