TRAINS have been cancelled and travel disruption is ongoing following an incident involving a train, Great Western Railways has announced.
Services between Reading and Paddington have been cancelled after a freight train failed while on the line east of Reading Station, blocking all rail lines.
Crews also found damage which had occurred separately to the incident on overhead line equipment near Ladbroke Grove.
It means rail services between London Paddington and Reading have been cancelled, or delayed by over an hour where they are still running.
This includes the Elizabeth Line, though trains on that service are still running between London Paddington and Slough, Maidenhead and Twyford.
Efforts to release the affected freight train are underway, however disruption is expected at least until the end of the day.
Those planning to travel are reminded to use the National Rail Enquiries real-time journey planner to check if a journey by rail is currently possible.
If you are at a station please check the Live Departure Boards or speak to a member of the station team.
Affected tickets can be used, at no extra cost, with the following operators, in both directions on these routes: the Elizabeth line; South Western Railway between London Waterloo and Reading, as well as between London Waterloo and Exeter St Davids; Chiltern Railways between London Marylebone and Oxford; and London Underground Bakerloo Line to London Waterloo and London Marylebone.
