MEMBERS of the public are being advised to avoid parts of Reading while fire crews work to tackle an incident this afternoon (Wednesday, November 12).
Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service has warned that it is currently responding to an incident in Cardiff Road, Reading, which it says also involves hazardous materials.
Crews were called to the area at around 11.26am following reports of the incident, and crews from Caversham Road, Theale, Wokingham, and Bracknell fire stations are still at the scene.
They are working alongside the Incident Response Unit from Whitley Wood Fire Station, an Incident Command Unit from Maidenhead Fire Station, and four Officers.
A cordon is still in place while emergency services work to bring the incident under control, and members of the public are advised to avoid the area around Cardiff Road.
Those who live and work in the area are also being advised to keep windows and doors closed.
