Two people have been arrested following a protest which garnered a significant police presence in Winnersh this morning (Wednesday, November 12.)

It comes after protestors were seen standing on the roof of the Keysight Technologies building in Wharfdale Road, Winnersh, brandishing flags.

A number of police officers attended the scene, with multiple police cars in the area.

Two women have been arrested-one aged 38 and of no fixed abode, and another aged 20 and from Nottingham- on suspicion of aggravated trespass and criminal damage to property.

Police estimate that around £5,000 of damage has been caused at the scene.

Among the signs at the site of the protest are those in support of hunger strikes in support of Palestinian people, as well as Palestinian flags.

Thames Valley Police said in a statement: “Officers from Thames Valley Police are currently dealing with an ongoing incident at Keysight Technologies on Wharfedale Road, Wokingham.

“A group of trespassers has accessed the roof of the building and caused damage.

“Our officers are on scene and working with partners to engage with those involved and resolve the situation safely.

“Please be aware there may be some disruption in the local area while this is ongoing-we ask members of the public to avoid the area for now.”

In a later statement, a Thames Valley Police spokesperson said: “Following an incident this morning (12/11) at Keysight Technologies in Wharfedale Road, Wokingham, two people have been arrested.

“A 38-year-old woman of no fixed abode and another woman, aged 20, from Nottingham, have been arrested on suspicion of aggravated trespass and criminal damage to property – value over £5,000.

“They are currently in police custody.”

Detective Inspector Stuart Streeter said: “I would like to thank the public for their patience and understanding while we dealt with this incident, which has now been safely resolved.

“We have made two arrests, and an investigation into the incident is ongoing.”
