The Reading music scene would not be what it is without Kian Lonergan-Curry, says a nomination for the Cultural Contribution award.

The nominator said: “Over the past year, Kian has run – at a minimum – weekly live music events at The Purple Turtle.

“For most of this time, they were also running weekly acoustic nights at Reading Biscuit Factory or The Purple Turtle alongside putting on and performing at gigs for her solo act The Amazing Tiger Band or their bands Glass Half Broken, The Celebration Hour and Fleece Lined.

They added: “Her consistent dedication to building the music scene in Reading, through being an insanely talented musician and putting on events that people want, has cultivated a genuine community… which is truly a commendable act of passion. “Improving the cultural draw of Reading week in and week out, always being a delight and so genuinely grateful to those who come out to and support her events, I can wholeheartedly say the Reading music scene would not be what it is without Kian.”
