A “beacon of excellence in luxury hospitality”, The Roseate Reading hotel offers “unparalleled dedication to customers, and a profound commitment to sustainability and community engagement”, said its nominator.

The hotel has been put forward for the Hospitality Award, inspired by and in memory of food journalist Hilary Scott and sponsored by Cream Design.

This award recognises excellence in the hospitality industry, either an individual or business that has shown resilience, outstanding dedication to their customers and a strong commitment to Reading.

The nominator cited the hotel’s The Reading Room restaurant, “the culinary gem within The Roseate Reading”, as an example.

“The commitment to locally sourced and seasonal produce isn’t just a promise—it’s a way of life. By prioritising ingredients from nearby farms and butchers, the team does not only reduce carbon footprints but also guarantee freshness and flavour that celebrates the best of English produce,” they said.

“In the efforts toward sustainability, The Roseate Reading leaves no stone unturned.”

The nominator praised the hotel team’s commitment to environmental stewardship, saving thousands of kilogrammes of plastic waste annually.

Other plusses are their dedication to staff development “to maintain the highest standards of service” and partnerships with local charities with initiatives such as Hospitality for the Homeless, providing warm meals and essential supplies to those in need, said the nomination.

The hotel works with Reading’s tourism team in effective campaigns to promote Reading’s cultural heritage and attractions, it added.

“The Roseate Reading hotel embodies the essence of hospitality excellence, intertwining luxury with sustainability and community involvement,” said their nominator, adding their dedication to locally sourced cuisine, sustainable initiatives, and staff empowerment set them apart as an industry leader.

The Hospitality Award is to recognise excellence in the hospitality industry, either an individual or business that has shown resilience, outstanding dedication to their customers and a strong commitment to Reading.
