A ‘kind, caring and funny’ woman has been nominated as Employee of the Year by a former colleague.
Twiggalena Green, known as Twigs, was working at Holland and Barrett health foods store in Reading when her nominator first met her.
He said: “Whilst working with Twigs as my manager, I went through several issues in my personal life, including money troubles, relationship problems, and was quite often having bad mental health days.
“She would be able to advise me on any issues I had and selflessly give up, not only her personal time, but quite often bailed me out financially without expecting anything in return.”
If a colleague needed a day off for any reason then Twigs would cover for them which meant she would have to work a six-day week, added her nominator, who said the pair had been best friends for 16 years.
Twigs, who now works at Sainsburys, would also ‘go all out’ with assisting customers, treating them as if they were friends rather than customers. And when she was on shift they would “beam with delight” as they knew how ‘kind, caring, and funny she is,” said the nominator.
“She would give you her last penny and the coat of her back to make sure you were safe and well,” he said.
“She is the most genuine person I know and never expects anything or any thanks in return. I would love it if she was recognised for being one of the most amazing ladies that I have ever met.”
Employee of the Year is sponsored by Reading Buses recognises an employee whose contribution, behaviour or success has enhanced their company, or who have gone the extra mile for their customers.
The Pride of Reading Awards annual lunch, hosted by Chris Tarrant, will be held in October, where shortlisted nominees, guests and sponsors are invited and winners are celebrated.
