A group is embracing people from across Reading to provide a community for families that want to cycle.
Kidical Mass Reading has helped families across Reading embrace cycling by providing family friendly rides that people across the town can attend for free, said their nominator for Community Event of the Year.
They’ve sat on council meetings to influence town designs to ensure that children are supported to get to their parks, schools and doctors safely.
“The rides are bi-monthly, free to attend and offer free bike repairs as well as bells, reflector strips, anything to help children and their families cycle safely. They’re a chance for people from all over Reading to join together to meet other like minded families, for children to reclaim our roads and enable families to swap bikes kids have outgrown,” they said.
“The kids talk about how fun they are, the parents say how safe they felt and the rides raise awareness of why our town needs to be child friendly.
“After all, a town that’s good for kids is good for everyone.
“They also helped five children build their own bikes with support from Avanti and Dr Bike. “This group are embracing people from across Reading to provide a community for families that want to cycle.”
