Charity of the Year, Parenting Special Children, sponsor Roc
A provider of specialist support for Berkshire families who have children and young people with special needs has been called a lifesaver by a nominator for Charity of the Year.
“Parenting Special Children literally saved me during lockdown when my child’s behaviour was out of control and I had nowhere to turn to,” they said.
“PSC’s online support groups and workshops enabled me to get through what was a very difficult time for my family. We are not out of the other side yet but the support is still there, now face-to-face, for us as parents and for my child.”
The Auticulate Group is for children aged eight to 16 with a diagnosis of autism and/or ADHD and in a mainstream school., they said.
It provides a range of social, communication and life skills through a programme of education, peer mentoring and real-life practice in a range of everyday experiences.
“These children really are set up for adult life. We are so lucky to have Parenting Special Children in Reading. The range of work they do to support children with additional needs and their parents is wide and varied.
