THAMES Valley Police has issued a statement following the arrest of a man in Reading on Sunday, May 19.
TVP posted to social media to explain a large police presence in East Street on Sunday evening as they conducted investigations.
A 24-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of rape and a scene watch has been put in place
While they acknowledged concerns over the large police presence, they explained that they believe the associated incident was isolated and that there was no further risk or cause for alarm to the public.
A scene watch will remain in place.
The statement read: “This evening you may have seen a large police presence in East Street, Reading which was in response to an ongoing investigation.
The presence of officers may have been concerning however we believe that this incident is isolated and that there is no cause for alarm or risk to the local community.”
