Police confirm body of man found in Whitley pub not being treated as suspicious

THAMES Valley Police has confirmed that they responded to an unexplained death in southern Reading today (Wednesday, September 3).

While the death is unexplained at this time, it is not being treated as suspicious– further details have not been released as emergency services are still making contact with the person’s next of kin.

A heavy police presence was on the scene at the World Turned Upside Down pub in Whitley following the incident, which occured shortly after 7am.

The pub has been taped off since, and a private ambulance was seen at the site.

A Thames Valley Police spokesperson said: “We are preparing a file for the coroner after an unexplained but non-suspicious death in Reading.

“We were called to The World Turned Upside Down public house on Old Basingstoke Road shortly after 7am today, after the body of a 47-year-old man was sadly found.
