The owner of a vacant office building in Oxford Road near the town centre has applied to convert it into seven flats.
The three-storey offices are located next to the Matinée Multilingual recording studio.
A conversion project would see two bedsits created at ground and lower ground level, and the first floor, with another bedsit on the second floor.
Each room would come with a double bed, basic cooking facilities and a shower toilet, with a larger shared kitchen and laundry room provided at lower ground level.
