Reading FC interim manager Paul Ince said that he has held ‘positive’ talks with club owner Mr Dai Yongge ahead of deciding his future.
Ince, who joined the Royals in February after Veljko Paunovic was sacked, helped steer the team towards Championship safety.
He now has a big decision on his hands to decide whether he wants to be the person to lead the club forward on a permanent basis.
“We’ve had a meeting. We had a good chat and there will be a follow up meeting and then it will be decision time,” said Ince.
“I’ve met him (Mr Dai) a few times. It was a good chat, a very productive chat, positive, and there are still things that we need to work out but overall it was good.
“We need to get moving one way or another, whether it will be me as manager or someone else because pre-season starts in six and a half weeks.
“The quicker we can resolve this, we can start moving forward.”
Ince explained that he is due to have a further meeting with the club’s hierarchy to decide his future.
He continued: “The next meeting will probably be in the next few days. Obviously we’re away Friday and Saturday for Luton so it will probably be next week sometime.
“Things have to be right for both parties. The quicker we get to that decision, the quicker we can move forward.
“The fans want to know, everyone wants to know so the quicker we get to that, everyone can start planning for the future.
“We’ve got so many things to do, so whoever is in charge, they have to move fast so there will be a decision by next week that is for sure.
“He (Mr Dai) has ploughed a lot of money into the club and that’s something we shouldn’t forget. He wants to take this club to the Premier League and he’s trying hard to do that.”
