THE ANNUAL Pancake Race held by Reading charity Launchpad returned to Broad Street for its latest outing on Tuesday, March 4.
Attendees competed in teams of four to run the race and take victory, earning them the coveted frying pan trophy.
They also don their most flamboyant fancy dress– all in aid of the charity’s work helping those without homes or at risk of losing their homes.
This year marks the 27th year the event has been held.
After the fiercely-fought opening heats, the final came down to teams from Davis Tate and Natwest.
Davis Tate won the final race, placing first overall, with Natwest placing second and the team from Evoke placing third.
Tomato Energy was given the Team Spirit Award, while Collards took the accolade for best fancy dress and Abbey School was named as the biggest fundraiser.
Launchpad CEO Su Hamblyn said at the event: “We have been truly blessed with the weather, and I cannot thank you for staying for and enjoying the races enough.
“I want to say thank you to all who contributed today and to all who raced– it was amazing, and we’ve had some fantastic teams join us.
“I also want to thank our prize-givers and to the mayor of Reading, Cllr Glenn Dennis, who will be handing out the prizes for us today.”We’ve totted up of the donations we’ve had coming in, and we’ve raised over £7,000 so far, so thank you so much.”
The final total of funds raised will be announced at a later date.
