FAMILIES can meet a mischievous young rabbit wearing a blue jacket when they go shopping in Reading on World Book day.

Beatrix Potter’s adventurous bunny, Peter Rabbit ™, will be at Broad Street Mall, ready to pose for selfies with shoppers.

He first appeared in Potter’s books in 1902, but on World Book Day, families will be able to meet him for photo opportunities, at a free event in the mall.

This year being National Year of Reading, award-winning storyteller Danyah Miller will also be hosting storytelling sessions at intervals between 11am and 4pm on the day.

Families can immerse themselves in her interactive sessions, designed to make special memories for all those who take part, say organisers.

Steven Connolly, Broad St. Mall centre manager said: ‘’We’re thrilled to be welcoming one of the Nation’s most iconic characters, Peter Rabbit to Broad Street Mall in honour of World Book Day this March. He is a absolute classic when it comes to the world of storytelling. Plus, Danyah Miller is an inspiration in the world of storytelling, with the unique interactive storytelling sessions that she runs. We hope the community enjoys these free activities and that this event leaves lasting memories of a great day in the heart of Reading.”

Both World Book Day activities are free, and sessions will be on a first come first served basis.

No booking is required, but visitors are reminded to please be mindful of others whilst queuing.

Whilst visiting Broad Street mall, families can explore a selection of children’s books at The Works, and Poundland.

Both events will take place in Central Square, Broad Street Mall, on Saturday, March 7, at intervals between 11am and 4pm.
