A 19-year-old man has been sentenced to prison for drug supply and knife offences in Woodley.
Recardo Newman, 19, of Wellwood Road, Ilford, pleaded guilty of one count each of possession with intent to supply heroin, possession with intent to supply cannabis, a public order offence and obstructing a police officer.
He also pleaded guilty to two counts of possession of a bladed article in a hearing at Reading Crown Court on Saturday, September 13.
Newman was sentenced on the same day of his Crown Court appearance to a total of one year and six months in prison.
On 11 December 2024, officers on patrol observed a vehicle behaving suspiciously on Huntingdon Close in Earley, near an address known to be linked to drug-related activity.
The vehicle was followed to Woodley, where Newman attempted to leave the scene. He was detained and searched by officers and found in possession of heroin and cannabis.
Upon arrest, officers located a Rambo knife and found another knife which was concealed in his trouser leg.
During the search, Newman provided false details to Police as he was already wanted having failed to comply with court requirements in relation to a previous conviction. He was charged and remanded the following day, 12 December.
Investigating officer, PC Lukas Sehringer, of the Wokingham and Bracknell Problem Solving team said: “This investigation and conviction underlines our commitment to tackling drug dealing and violence in our community.
“We will not tolerate the actions of those who think they can threaten lives with knives and deal drugs in our neighbourhoods. We will pursue, arrest, and convict offenders, ensuring they face the full force of the law.
