Man charged with Reading murder after cyclist dies

Police are appealing for witnesses after, on Monday, December 4, a man sexually assaulted a woman in her late teens in the vicinity of Oxford Road sometime between 11.20p and 2.20am the following day.

A man has been charged with murder following an investigation by Thames Valley Police’s Major Crime Unit.

Shazeb Khalid, aged 24, of no fixed abode, was charged with one count of murder today, February 20..

The charge is in connection with the death of Vignesh Raman, aged 38, who was found in Addington Road on Wednesday, February 14, following a road traffic collision between a cyclist and a vehicle.

Vignesh Raman was declared deceased at the Royal Berkshire Hospital, and a murder investigation was launched

Khalid was arrested on suspicion of murder yesterday. The seven men arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender have all been released on bail.

Khalid is due to appear at Reading Magistrates Court tomorrow, Wednesday February 21.
