PARTS of the M4 in Reading will be closed this weekend and drivers are being warned they will need to take diversions.

The closure is a precursor to a 10-week programme that will see a 50mph speed limit in place and two lanes mothballed.

The westbound carriageway between junctions 12 and 13 are affected by the work which runs from Saturday, January 7, through to the early hours of Monday, January 9.

The work is to install traffic management systems.

The weekend work will run from 10pm to 6am on Saturday and Sunday, and drivers will be asked to use the A4 and A339 as a diversion.

When the road reopens on Monday, January 9, the hard shoulder and lane one will be shut and the speed restriction in place to allow the works to be undertaken.
