We’ve had our passport out again for this week’s playlist: this time a visit to Aylesbury to enjoy a set by That Joe Payne.

One of the songs we heard is top of the pops this week, it’s My Heart and we think it will have yours.

It’s just one of 10 great tracks for you to listen, for free, on Spotify.

Simply head to https://bit.ly/rawsoundstoday and enjoy the music.

There is also a Facebook page and group chat that bands and music fans can tap into. You can search for RaW Sounds Today and it will come up.

That Joe Payne – My Heart

We were honoured to be able to attend a very special album launch event in Aylesbury last week where Joe and his incredible band of musicians performed the whole of the new Bread & Circuses album live.

It was a great night which again highlighted what a talent Joe is. He is an impressive performer with an amazing vocal range and he had everyone entranced throughout the show.

Joe has visited Wokingham to play at the festival twice and hopefully, it won’t be long before we see him here again.

In the meantime, it’s well worth checking out the wonderful new album. It has quite a range of styles but remains a very cohesive work. It has a pop feel, a theatrical feel, a synth-rock feel and there’s even this song which could easily be a Bond theme – https://www.thatjoepayne.com/

Trim – Restart

We featured a song from the album Resolve by this band created by local songwriter, Chris Trim a few months ago but we thought we’d feature another because the song, Restart has such a great hook. We can’t stop playing it.

The band will be live at Login Lounge, Camberley on Saturday, October 7 – https://www.trimmusic.co.uk/

UK Subs – Tomorrow’s Girls

A classic from the band that visited Reading’s Sub 89 and performed an incredibly fun and exciting gig as part of their farewell tour. The final shows are this week at London’s legendary 100 Club – https://uksubs.co.uk

Rila’s Edge – Gold

We popped along to this Wokingham band’s Reading Facebar show recently and it was another brilliant performance. They play further afield in October with shows in London and Bristol. Check out their social media for info – https://www.rilasedge.com/

Kristin Hersh – Constance Street

As well as being a member of the renowned Throwing Muses, Kristin creates music as a solo artist. Her latest album Clear Pond Road, from which this song is taken, is a wonderful intimate and personal album and she has a sold-out Reading South Steet Arts Centre show on Thursday, October 5 – https://www.kristinhersh.com/

Lilac – Touch

It’s been a while since the brilliant Losing Myself (In You) single from Lilac which made our top 20 of 2022. However, it was worth waiting for more of their excellent floral indie sound with this new single – https://lilacband.co.uk/

AlphaLine – Paper Cups

They performed a great set at Wokingham Festival and have released their debut EP Polarity, from which this is taken – https://www.alphalineband.com/

Danny Lampo – Puutu

Danny is a skilled footballer with the Reading Tigers and also a talented musician creating music with an afrobeats dancehall influence such as this new single, which also features guest musician, Article Wan – https://www.dannylampo.com/

Selina and the Howlin Dogs – Midnight Man

Here’s a song from the new album Biscuit City by those wonderful local blues rockers – https://www.selinaandthehowlindogs.com/

Art Themen – The Night Has A Thousand Eyes

Here’s the jazz saxophonist who will be at Wokingham’s Whitty Theatre this Friday, September 29, in aid of Wokingham in Need. This is from the album he released with Dave Barry – https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/wokinghaminneed/
