A key route that provides access to the football stadium, a retail park and more in Reading will be closed for nearly two months for water works.

Bennet Road in Whitley is a key link between the B3031 Basingstoke Road and the A33, serving as an access for drivers for Green Park, the Select Car Leasing Stadium and Reading Gate Retail Park.

Drivers are unable to enter the road at its junction with the A33.

Bennet Road will be closed until 8pm on Sunday, December 14, according to one.network website.

That is a closure of a month and 26 days from when work began on Monday, October 18.

Access to commercial businesses in Bennet Road remains open at its junction with Basingstoke Road.

Occupants of the road include Reading Borough Council’s vehicle depot, Stratsone Land Rover, The Church of Pentecost UK and others.

Drivers can follow a diversion using Basingstoke Road, Imperial Way and the A33.

The closure has been enacted by Thames Water with the consent of the council.
