IF THERE is one thing better than ice cream, it is free ice cream … and that’s exactly what is on offer this Friday when a Reading cafe offers free scoops for everyone.

Creams Cafe on Oxford Road is 16 years old this year and its birthday is being celebrated. But the company is the one giving the presents.

From its humble beginnings, it now has 100 branches across the country. The dessert parlous sector has also grown: there were just 200 when it launched, and now there are more than 1,000 according to analysts, the Local Data Company (LDC).

Customers can receive a single scoop of gelato or sorbet – of any flavour – worth £2.50. The offer is available from opening to closing time on Friday, and people just need to visit the store to take advantage of the offer.

Creams will have its full dessert menu available, including waffles, deep-filled sundaes, sweet crepes, and gelato-loaded shake
