READING FC manager Ruben Selles is ‘very satisfied’ with the work of the club’s academy as several young stars were on show in the Royals’ win over Stevenage.
Academy graduate Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan scored twice as Reading earned three points to make it back-to-back wins in League One.
“The opponent today was a very good team and had a perfect start to the season,” said Selles.
“We knew we had to match their physicality especially in the set plays and long balls.
“The boys understood perfectly the role of everyone and we are very happy with the performance and three points.
“We analysed how they adjusted because it’s not easy to play with 10 players. We need to learn as a team how to face those situations to keep the ball, force them into pressing situations.
“It was about keeping our tempo and that goal from the corner is the hard work we are making on the training ground.
“It’s a challenge for them. Last game it was similar in the approach from the opponent. We need to get used to that.
“We were about to put our football stamp on the game
“He’s (Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan) able to score goals because we create situations for him and we demand a lot for him in the pressure, in the counter pressure.
“He is understanding better and better the role Everyone has a role to play in our unit.”
Selles is still targeting a couple of more additions before the transfer window closes, but admits that the club has financial limitations.
He continued: “We will see what happens. We know our limitations. Everyone is doing a really good job inside.
“But we need another couple of positions if we can get a player there to make an impact to the team, then we should do it.”
