CREATIVE cooks are being invited to a create a new pizza – with the winner seeing their work go on sale in a restaurants across the country.

Franco Manca, the Neapolitan pizza pioneer with a branch in Windsor, has launched its annual Sourdough September competition.

Run in collaboration with Uber Eats, it asks customers to devise their own dream pizza.

The winner will be featured on Franco Manca’s specials board across the UK, and see them receive a state-of-the-art Gozney pizza oven as their prize.

Entrants submit a list of ingredients for their pizza and a story behind the recipe. Creativity and innovation are key.

After a rigorous judging process, a line-up of six finalists, along with their friends and family, will be invited to attend the Grand Final at Franco Manca’s Baker Street restaurant in London on Tuesday, October 3.

They will cook their masterpiece from scratch for a panel of judges, who will then crown the overall winner.

Last year’s Sourdough September winning entry was a Middle Eastern inspired chicken shawarma pizza, which featured on the specials board nationwide for two weeks in March.

Entries close on Tuesday, September 12 at 11.59pm.
