Football round-up: Berks County Women defeat Sumas to remain top

Combined Counties Premier North

WOKINGHAM TOWN climbed up the table with their fourth success of the campaign as they defeated Milton United.

With four different scorers, goals from Joao Jardim, Tahir Carmichael, Owen Clark and Coinnor Richardson helped the Sumas to a 4-2 win.

BERKS COUNTY stay in the drop zone following a narrow 2-1 loss at Wallingford & Crowmarsh.

READING CITY are in 17th place after they lost 2-1 away to Burnham.

WOODLEY UNITED sit at the bottom of the table after they were thumped 5-0 at home by Brook House.

YATELEY UNITED dropped down to fifth following their 5-2 defeat to PFC Victoria.

BURGHFIELD booked their place in the next round with a 4-2 triumph away to Letcombe

WARGRAVE were eliminated with a 2-0 home defeat to Old Windsor, while BINFIELD U23s lost 2-1 at Westwood Wanderers.

READING CITY U23s were also dumped out of the competition with a 3-0 loss to Shrivenham.

Women’s FA Cup

ASCOT UNITED flew through to the next stages with an emphatic 8-2 victory over WOODLEY UNITED.

There were doubles for both Leah Littlechild and Kate Fox, while strikes from Olivia Glover, Beth Lloyd, Alexandra Todd and Ella Rowntree contributed to a big win.

READING FC continued their journey in the competition with a penalty shootout success against Richmond & Kew.

Despite their faltering start in the league, the Royals have found joy in the cup and beat their opponents 3-2 on spot kicks following a goalless draw.

Southern Region Women’s Division One North

ASCOT UNITED RESERVES collected all three points on their trip to TILEHURST PANTHERS.

Georgia Hayes scored for Tilehurst, but the Yellas took a 3-1 win to put them in second place, while Tilehurst are in 7th.

CAVERSHAM UNITED are still looking for their first points of the season after they lost 5-1 to Wycombe Wanderers U23s.

Thames Valley Women’s Division One

FICHAMPSTEAD were beaten 3-2 at home to Oxford City Development, while YATELEY UNITED lost 2-0 at Ruislip Rangers.

BERKS COUNTY remain at the top of the table after they triumphed with a 7-1 victory over WOKINGHAM TOWN.

Freya Johnson netted four times, Olivia Aluko scored two and Kiah Owen scored to help the Swords to claim three points.

WARGRAVE lost 3-1 to Marlow Town, while SANDHURST WOLVES were beaten 5-1 against Taplow United.
