A FIRE in central Reading caused minor disruption, but required no intervention, emergency services have confirmed.

Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service has explained that it was called to reports of a fire near Lock Place shortly after 9am today (Tuesday, January 6.)

Crews from Caversham Road and Wokingham Road attended the scene, but the fire had already gone out at the scene.

Responders used thermal imaging to monitor the temperature of the site where the fire had broken out to ensure that the scene was safe.

It follows reports of a road incident which proved inaccurate.

Crews were at the scene for just under 20 minutes.
