READING Borough Council is issuing final reminders for those still yet to respond to its annual canvas.
The council has warned that more than 12,000 households are still yet to respond to reminders, which are aimed at bringing the electoral register up to date.
Missing responses mean some residents may be registered at the wrong address; some residents risk not being able to vote in future elections.
The final phase of reminders is being sent out this week to bring as many people’s details up to date as possible.
Residents must respond to the letters by November 28 in time for the new register to be published in December, ahead of elections set to take place in May next year.
As well as responding to the Annual Canvass Form, residents not currently registered can do so online via: gov.uk/register-to-vote.
Residents with questions about their registration status can contact Reading Borough Council’s local electoral services team by phoning 0118 937 3717, or by emailing: Elections@reading.gov.uk
