A CELEBRATION of Reading’s golden generation will take place on Monday.

Reading Borough Council is helping co-ordinate a free event in Broad St. Mall from 9.30am through to 3pm.

A range of activities based on the theme Ageing Well Together will take place and they include bowling, singing, a first aid/CPR demonstration and taster session, Terry’s Reading Walkabouts, and discussions on better mental health in older life.

There will also be opportunities for mini-health checks and blood pressure screenings to promote well-being among attendees.

The Mayor of Reading, Cllr Tony Page, will officially open the event at 10am.

Lead councillor for adult social care, Cllr Paul Gittings, said: “Older People’s Day is an opportunity to celebrate later life and the huge contribution older people make to our communities.
