AN EMPTY store in Reading town centre is to be converted into a convenience store after Reading Borough Council granted permission for an alcohol licence.
Pack & Send relocated from Kings Road to Milford Road in 2021.
Its now closed branch is opposite Wetherspoon’s Back of Beyond pub.
This store is to become a branch of Jiyana Food & Wine, which has been given a licensce to sell alcohol on a daily basis between the hours of 7am and 11pm.
There are currently three other convenience stores in a half-mile radius.
The closest is the Kings Road News and Off Licence – two doors down.
In Duke Street, a short walk away, there is the M&A convenience store and Today’s Express.
Jiyana Food & Wine obtained permission for the alcohol sales at 91-93 Kings Road on Friday, November 10, 2023.
It is understood the company also runs the M&M Food & Wine store at 55-57 Wokingham Road in East Reading.
