A SERIES of band concerts continues in June with not one but two performances on the same day.
Reading Concert Hall in Blagrave Street is the venue for the musical treat, with one show in the afternoon and the other in the evening.
The British Bandsman Concert Series features some of the very best of British Brass, and launched in February with a performance by the Cory Band.
On Saturday, June 8, the afternoon slot will be taken by Bone-afide, an international chamber ensemble comprising some of Europe’s leading young trombonists.
The group says it strives to showcase the versatility of the instrument, performing works from all genres and periods to defy stereotypes of its music.
The show features Robert Moseley, Angus Butt, Isobel Daws, and Merin Rhyd.
One of the most famous brass bands in the UK and 2023 Welsh Champions and double British Open Champions, the Tredegar Band, will perform in the evening.
The band can date itself back to 1849, and was officially formed in 1876.
Since the mid-1970s, it has emerged as one of the premier performers in the world of brass bands, boasting multiple victories in major competitions.
Tickets for the 2pm show cost £17.50, while the evening one costs £20 or £25. There is a £5 discount for booking both at the same time.
The next performances will be on September 28, with Hatherleigh Silver Band, who won the TakePart draw, and the Flowers Band.
The shows are organised by Reading Arts, and tickets can be booked by logging on to: www.whatsonreading.com, or calling: 0118 960 6060.
