PLANS to build flats on the site of Reading’s final gas tower have been revised to accommodate the latest safety measures.
Danescroft has already received permission from Reading Borough Council to build three blocks containing 82 apartments, 38 apartments and 10 apartments on the site in Newtown, off Carson Road.
The proposals need to be amended to introduce a second stair core to the tallest tower to comply with government fire safety regulations.
While the number of apartments has stayed the same, planning agents Boyer says it does mean a change in the mixture of units provided, but the breakdown is not specified.
Other changes involve fire safety measures and the energy strategy for the whole development.
The application can be seen by logging on to Reading Borough Council’s planning website, searching for 240303.
