A TASTE of New York is now being served in a Reading restaurant, but only until the end of the month.
The November special at Honest Burgers is a collaboration with the famous craft beer firm Brooklyn Brewery and aims to celebrate the Big Apple on a plate.
It is the result of a week-long visit to the trendy borough of Brooklyn, where the Honest Burgers team tried and tested the best spots for flavour inspiration.
The result is a burger comprising Honest beef, double American cheese, savoury and gently bitter Brooklyn Pilsner beer-braised onions which are balanced out by the sweetness of candied bacon, dijonnaise, white onions and pickles.
Adam Layton, Honest Burgers’ head of food, said: “Brooklyn Brewery make some of my favourite beers ever.
“I was lucky to spend a day at the New York brewery with Brooklyn’s famous brew master Garrett Oliver, learning about Williamsburg’s rich brewing history, sampling new and experimental brews and exchanging opinions on beer and burgers.
“The simplicity of our collab burger is its strength, letting the hoppy Brooklyn Pilsner beer-braised onions shine, balanced with sweet, candied bacon and cut through with sharp and rich confit garlic dijonnaise.”
And alongside it, there will be a chance to drink the brewery’s new Brooklyn Pilsner, described as a crisp, bright, and refreshing Pilsner-style lager that gathers crowds and fires up the good vibes with its light toasty flavours and spicy, subtle citrus hop notes.
It is available at the High Street restaurant until Monday, November 27, and costs £14.80 for dining in customers. This is served with its rosemary salted chips. It costs £15.90 with a side when ordered via Uber Eats.
