BROAD Street Mall was transformed into a hub of Halloween fun and community spirit last week as Broad Street Beats returned for a spooky special.

The mall welcomed live music, creativity, and family-friendly entertainment, including a line-up of talented local artists curated by The Rhoom Studios.

Attendees enjoyed a Halloween tote bag decorating workshop with Jelly, free face painting, and sweet treats courtesy of Muffin Break and Subway.

Broad Street Mall’s beloved mascot Topsy made special appearances throughout the day, handing out chocolates and posing for photos with visitors.

It also hosted the Kids’ Disco, where little monsters showed off their Halloween costumes and danced alongside Topsy.

The much-anticipated costume competition saw every child walk away with a prize, with top winners receiving vouchers from Subway, Urban Fun, and Reading Biscuit Factory.

The event also shone a light on important local causes, as The Jessica Project raised awareness and support for survivors of abuse and violence, while The RACE Project (Reading Against Child Exploitation) educated visitors on their work to protect and empower young people.

Sinead Gibson, founder of Every Little Thing Festival, also joined the event to share her story and continue her inspiring advocacy for mental health awareness and suicide prevention in memory of her daughter, Diva.

Steven Connolly, Centre Manager at Broad Street Mall, said: “It was amazing to see so many families and friends come together to celebrate Halloween at Broad Street Beats.

“The atmosphere was electric and full of joy–the centre was packed with visitors dancing, laughing, and connecting.

“These events are such a highlight for us because they showcase local talent, support incredible causes, and bring our community closer together.”

Broad Street Beats was proudly delivered in partnership with The Rhoom Studios, whose continued collaboration helps shine a spotlight on Reading’s incredible creative talent.

Broad Street Beats is part of an ongoing series of events at Broad Street Mall, celebrating local music, creativity, and community spirit.

With more showcases planned into 2026, the series continues to offer free, inclusive entertainment at the heart of Reading.
