READING FC fan groups are calling on supporters to wear blue and white for the Royals’ final Championship home match of the season against Wigan Athletic.
The Royals head into the contest in the relegation zone with just two games remaining with their status in the league under serious threat.
A bumper crowd is expected at the Select Car Leasing Stadium as the club confirmed that Club 1871 has sold out its expanded allocation.
Several fan groups, including Club 1871, The Tilehurst End, Elm Park Royals and Proud Royals have got behind the scheme to encourage fans to kit themselves out in the team’s colours.
The post which has been spread on social media reads: “Beating Wigan Athletic is vital for Reading’s survival hopes, and as fans, we must do all we can to make that happen.
“We’re calling on everyone at Saturday’s game to cover the SCL in blue and white – shirts, scarves, whatever you’ve got.
“The more blue and white the better. And of course, back the boys and make some noise.”
Reading were victorious over the LAtics in the reverse fixture at the DW Stadium courtesy of a free-kick from Tom Ince.
The Royals will now need to find their first win under interim boss Noel Hunt to give them any hope of survival.
Reading currently occupy 22nd place on 43 points. The three teams directly above them in the table have a game in hand each.
Huddersfield Town are one point in front, while Cardiff City and Rotherham are three points ahead.
Meanwhile, Wigan, who are currently bottom of the Championship will need to take three points to also keep their hopes of escaping the drop alive.
Shaun Moloney’s team have won their previous two matches to keep their unlikely hopes of getting out of the drop zone intact.
