COMMUNITY AF CIC has expanded to bring a new community space to Reading.
Its hub in Cholmeley Road is a centre that aims to help people through creative arts, holistic therapies, food, music, and radio.
But now the collective has begun renting the nearby St Bartholomew’s Church and hopes to continue expanding what it can offer community organisations.
Nancy Magon said: “We have a choir and all sorts of community things that we run, so we’ve split them and will be using the new space there.
“We’ll rent it out at community rates to businesses and organisations, as it has a treatment room, a dance and performance space, we’re even hosting Reading School of Martial Arts there too.”
She explained that the organisation would be celebrating the acquisition of the space with a launch event later in the spring.
“This means that we can continue to expand our accessibility to the community, helping us bring more people together and build more of those positive relationships.”
She added that they had big plans for the space: “It’s about re-purposing a space that was built for the community.
“We’re hoping to be able to provide a Sunday social event, wellbeing sessions, and even an international foods and craft market.
“Those who want to get involved as a volunteer or would like to rent one of the spaces, we’d love to hear from you.”
