A CHARITY is hoping a loving home can be found for two cats suffering from dry eye.

Originally part of a multi-cat household, two-year-old Wolfie and 18-month-old Yugi need new owners.

They are currently being cared for by Cats Protection in its Newbury adoption centre.

The team discovered they have dry eye, caused by inadequate tear production, which is thought to have developed after a virus remained untreated when they were young.

The otherwise healthy duo need a dose of eye gel in mornings and evenings to keep them comfortable and prevent infection.

The centre’s deputy manager Jenni Warrior said: “Yugi and Wolfie are a super pair of cats.

“They play happily together and enjoy tumbling about their pen here at the centre.

“Yugi, although younger, is the more confident of the two and likes to encourage Wolfie and occasionally lead him into joyful mischief.

“Wolfie has a more relaxed side and will happily sit on your lap while his brother continues to explore the world around him. They both love to be stroked and a fishing rod toy is their favourite which they take turns to run after and pounce on.”

Jenni urges would-be owners not to be put off by the cats’ eye condition.

“They are such fun to have in care and although we try to ensure the centre feels like home, it really is no substitute for the real thing,” she continued.

“We are keen to find a loving new owner who is not worried by their need for eye drops, we can give all the training you might need plus Yugi and Wolfie tolerate the treatment very well, although Yugi would always prefer to be playing rather than pausing for drops.”

The cats need a home together, ideally with outdoor space, where they can enjoy exploring, playing and being part of a loving family.
