ONE OF Reading’s indie music festivals is returning to the town this weekend.

Heavy Pop and Dork have teamed up in bringing Beat Connection to St Laurence Church for two days of live music.

Billie Marten will be joining Porridge Radio in topping the line-up at Beat Connection, presented by Heavy Pop and Dork.

Billie Marten is due to release Drop Cherries, her fourth album, on Friday, April 7, and said of the album that it aims to “capture the vibrancy, unpredictability, and occasional chaos one experiences within a relationship.”

It will be the first album both written and co-produced by the artist, who has also released its first single, This Is How We Move.

Friday headliners Porridge Radio released their third album, Waterslide, Diving Board, Ladder to the Sky, last year.

Their sound has been described as post-punk indie pop, with acidic riffs and devil-may-care sensibilities adding to an intense stage presence.

They’ll also be joined by Baba Ali, who recently supported The Go! Team on their UK tour, including at Reading’s Sub89.

Baba Ali bring an infectious sound dripping with 80’s neon electronica which is perfectly complimented by resonant, soulful vocals.

Saturday will see Damaged by Circus Elephants ahead of Gwenifer Raymond, with Raymond combining post-punk, primitive, and pre-war blues influences into an eclectic, energetic performance.

Lime Garden, AK/DK, Deg, The Mirror Pictures, Cowboyy, and Liam O’Brien will be rounding out the roster, with the Track & Grooves DJ sets topping of the bill each night.

Beat Connection will take place at St Laurence’s Church, central Reading, on Friday and Saturday, March 24-25.

Doors open at 6.30pm on Friday, and from 3pm on Saturday.

Tickets are now available, with weekend passes priced at £30, Friday passes at £16.50, and Saturday passes at £22, available online via: gigantic.com/beat-connection-tickets
