ALOK SHARMA, MP for Reading West, is among those named on Boris Johnson’s list of nominees to be made a Lord.
He is among 20 people on the list who are nominated to become peers, including two advisers who would become the youngest life peers in history.
As well as Mr Sharma, former Culture Secretary Nadine Dories, and Scotland Secretary Alister Jack were nominated by Johnson.
It is currently unclear whether the nominations will be enacted ahead of a general election, with approval by the House of Lords appointment commission yet to be given.
This is because a member of the House of Lords is not permitted to sit in the House of Commons, meaning that any sitting MP being honoured would trigger a by-election in their constituency.
There is currently no precedent for the deferral of the enactment of an honours list.
