Combined Counties Football Women’s League Cup

EVERSLEY & CALIFORNIA RESERVES will play in the Combined Counties Women’s League Cup semi-final after their penalty shootout success against Abbey Rangers.

The Boars raced into a quick lead with just eight minutes on the clock when Lily-May Varney slotted past the goalkeeper to break the deadlock.

The hosts ensured that they replied quickly through Megan McGarvey to put the match back on terms just seven minutes after Varney’s opener.

With chances for both sides throughout the second-half, Varney came inches away from adding her second of the game in the 72nd minute when she struck the crossbar.

With the teams locked at 1-1 after 90 minutes, the game had to be decided by a penalty shootout.

After a mammoth penalty shootout, it was Eversley who progressed with a 9-8 win.
