STUDENTS at Waingels School have been praised after achieving ‘strong’ grades in this year’s A-Levels.
More than two thirds of students achieved A*-C grades and more than half achieved A*-B.
This year’s A-Level candidates were sitting their first formal examinations of their academic career, having had their GCSE year disrupted by Covid-19.
Headteacher Mrs Lindsey Humber said: “Once again our students have demonstrated remarkable maturity and resilience to successfully overcome the challenges of the last two years and achieve results that they should be very proud of.
“Despite not being able to sit formal GCSE exams when they were in Year 11, these students have secured excellent examination results and I feel privileged to have been able to see them become young adults who are ready for the next steps in their life.
“I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank our governors, parent/carers and the community for their ongoing support, recognising the strong partnership we have which supports students to reach their full potential. We wish the Class of 2023 the very best for the future”.
Waingels pupils will be heading off to a range of university and apprenticeship programmes, with James reading computer science at Nottingham University, while Abigail will study for a Level 4 Degree Apprenticeship at Grant Thornton.
