A READING restaurant has applied for permission to sell alcohol for longer.

The VEL South Indian Kitchen and Bar is located on Whitley Street towards its junction with Basingstoke Road and Christchurch Road.

Its operators Destination Foods Limited have applied to Reading Borough Council for permission to sell alcohol on and off the premises from 8am to midnight seven days a week. This is an adjustment to its current conditions. It currently closes at 10pm each night.

VEL opened in 2018, in the unit previously occupied by Cafe Madras.

Comments on the application can be made by Friday, December 1. These are public, and can be submitted by emailing licensing@reading.gov.uk
