Reading FC under 21s manager Noel Hunt reacted after his side lifted the Berks & Bucks Cup with victory over Marlow.
First-half goals from Jeremiah Okine-Peters and Adrian Akande helped the Royals win 2-1 to lift the cup.
“It’s good to win something. It was a good game, a tough game,” said Hunt.
“First half I thought we blew them away. Second half we made it a game for them and stopped doing the things we’re good at and gave them a bit of life.
“We had two or three chances to kill the game and emotions came into it and we didn’t pick the right option.
“On a whole I’m delighted that we won, we could have made it easier for ourselves but that’s me nit picking on the night. We won the cup and that’s the big thing.
“They’re young lads growing up and they’re learning the game at a really quick rate.
“It’s about fine tuning everything and going into the net game with a better mindset at the start.
“Although I wasn’t happy to conceded, it was a good lesson for us and then we stayed calm, didn’t panic and controlled the game from there.”
Hunt was also quick to praise the work rate of his side and picked out forward Basil Tuma for his performance.
He continued: “They all worked tirelessly, but Basil (Tuma) stood out for me in terms of his work rate, his pressing and how aggressive he was.
“How he lead the line and put them under pressure. If we were clever enough in the final third for that final pass, he ends up with two goals.
“We want a tight knit group, a family type of vibe and that’s we’ve installed. Tonight it’s for them.”
