A WEST READING takeaway has applied for permission to trade until 2am.
Zaika The Paan Shop at 431 Oxford Road opened a year ago, with a menu featuring burgers, doner kebabs, and curries. It also sells soft drinks, milkshakes and cakes.
It is currently open from 11am to 11pm, but husband and wife team Reeda Chaudhry and Mohammed Bilal Ahmed want to stay open until the early hours.
Mrs Chaudhry said: “The prices are very competitive, we are quite affordable compared to other places. The food is good, you can taste the quality.
“My husband has worked for 12 years in the Asian, curries and fast food industry, he’s a professional chef.”
She continued: “We won’t sell alcohol, we sell hot food, starters, cold drinks, milkshakes and desserts.”
Reading Borough Council is now consulting on the couple’s application. Comments, which are made public, can be made by emailing licensing@reading.gov.uk before Saturday, November 11.
