A CENTRE in Reading is set to hold a new regular gardening event after a team from Microsoft transformed the space.
The Weller Centre in Caversham welcomed employees from the company last month for a corporate day in the garden, where they overhauled the garden space ahead of a planned community project.
Now the centre is throwing open the space for weekly sessions which will see the centre partner with Reading Borough Council and Incredible Edible Reading, run by Food4Families.
Centre manager Simone Prendiville said: “We are so pleased that the Microsoft team could come to the garden and give it a new lease of life! We have a beautiful space, which has been left unloved since the pandemic.
“The Microsoft team has worked so hard weeding the raised beds, filling new ones and clearing weeds from paths and flower beds. It is now ready for our gardening sessions to begin!”
Dave Richards, Food4Families said: “It’s great to see Microsoft getting involved with such a fantastic project.
“This garden is an opportunity for anyone in the area to learn or share gardening skills, and grow delicious fresh food. Community gardening is a great way to get outside, meet new people and improve your health.”
Garden sessions will now run at the Weller Centre from 10.30am every Tuesday.
