ONE OF Reading’s oldest family bakeries is teaming up with another family business to bring its breakfast choices to Caversham.

Warings Bakery, which was served Reading since its establishment in Tilehurst in 1932, is now partnering with Anonymous Coffee Co to bring their speciality coffee to their Caversham branch.

Warings first began providing bread to the community from a family home in Armour Road after founder Laurence Waring moved to Reading in 1928.

With his experience working at Betty’s of Harrogate, Mr Waring brought his expertise to the business, providing traditionally-made products which were hand delivered.

By the mid-1970s, customers were visiting the family home which had been set up to sell their wares, and soon the business began to acquire new branches.

Warings now has six branches around Reading.

Anonymous Coffee Co is based on the Berkshire and Oxfordshire border, and provides responsibly-sourced and sustainably-produced speciality coffee, freshly made or available in bags of beans or grounds.

A spokesperson for Warings Bakery said: “‘Partnering with another family owned and operated business such as Anonymous Coffee is a perfect fit for us at Warings Bakery and we are thrilled to be working with them.

“By joining forces, we can elevate the coffee experience at our Caversham Bakery & Coffee Shop.

“We have been baking using traditional methods for 90 years and now we can offer our local community a coffee experience to match those great bakes, and a delicious locally roasted coffee.”

“We couldn’t be more excited to continue to serve our local community and grow our reputation for excellent speciality coffee alongside our bakes.”

Waring is offering Anonymous’ Coffee in its Caversham Branch from Saturday, July 8.
