A WALKING tour of Reading’s Forbury Gardens will be held on Sunday, giving participants a chance to learn about its history.
The popular park has been in use for more than 900 years, and is a Grade II-listed venue.
The tour will explain why an oak tree has a fence around it, the gardens’ role in the English Civil War back in 1643, and how the Maiwand Lion came to be in Reading.
It will also unpack other secrets relating to the town centre venue.
The event takes place from 2pm on Sunday, August 27, and places cost £9. It is organised by Walk Reading.
