A vote is being held to appoint governors to scrutinise the management of the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading.
The Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust is based at the hospital and runs Townlands Memorial Hospital in Henley, West Berkshire Community Hospital in Thatcham and the Windsor Dialysis Unit.
The trust is managed by the board of directors, elected governors and trust members.
Its website states: “Our Council of Governors is the voice of the people we serve, and it helps set our priorities and shape our services, based on our members’ views.”
An election for a trust governor in Reading is open, with votes closing soon.
Candidates include Tony Page a former Labour councillor for 51 years and mayor in 2023-2024, and James Mugo, who has stood as a Conservative council candidate in the local elections from 2022-2024.
Joycee Rebelo is a dental care professional and a member of The British Association of Dental Nurses.
Sam D’Arcy-Darling works for Transport for London and is currently a governor of Forest Bridge School in Maidenhead, and Joseph Edwards was a director of an anaesthetics business according to Companies House.
Zunnoon Pasha has also been named as a candidate.
Two governors will be elected.
