ON THURSDAY, May 4, Reading went to the polls in its first ‘normal’ local elections since the boundary commission changes were implemented.
Last year was an all-out election where every seat was contested.
This year, there are 17 seats up for grabs from 16 wards. The extra seat is due to a byelection in Park ward, a Green party stronghold.
Labour won 32 of the 48 seats last year, giving them dominance on the council. However, the other parties will be looking to make gains as well.
Opposition leader Rob White will be hoping his Green party can extend their lead over the Conservatives, while the Conservatives will be hoping to regain the initiative – bucking the national opinion polls in the process.
And the Lib Dems will also be looking to rebuild the number of councillors across the town.
How did the public vote?
We will update each ward page as the results come in.
