A housing company has discovered Everest in the Royals’ home stadium.
Employees from Vistry Group visited the Select Car Leasing Stadium for a fundraising effort: climbing the height of the world’s highest mountain to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society.
Eagle-eyed readers will know the stadium doesn’t actually house a mountain. Instead 25 Vistry team members climbed 47 steps per flight of stairs, 48 times.
In doing so, they collectively completed an ascent of 29,030ft – equivalent to the height of Mount Everest.
The Alzheimer’s Society is Vistry’s chosen charity of the year, this most recent fundraising event has raised the total of the donations so far to £4,300.
Alix Laflin, marketing manager for Vistry Thames Valley, said: “Climbing the flights of stairs 48 times was a mental and physical challenge for each team member but we all pushed ourselves to complete the climb as we knew it was for a good cause.
“We’d like to thank everyone at Reading FC for making us so welcome on the day and for the encouragement we received from everyone who sponsored us.
“This is just the latest fundraising event we’ve organised for the Alzheimer’s Society, which is a charity close to the hearts of many employees.”
