The University of Reading has revealed major plans to hold events on its campus that needs approval from the council.
The university has applied for a new premises licence for its external area of Palmer Quad on its campus.
This could involve the sale of alcohol and the offering of entertainment.
An application made to Wokingham Borough Council shows the events would be permitted for up to five days per calendar year.
Event bosses must demonstrate to the council the events will adhere to licensing objectives, including prevention of crime and disorder, prevention of public nuisance, public safety and protection of children from harm.
The university would also have to inform Wokingham Borough Council the dates of the events which will take place no later than three months before the start.
The first event is set to take place on May 17.
The Palmer Quad has hosted events including the Winter Festival and Green Festival.
Wokingham Borough Council is accepting representations on the licence application, with a closing date of April 25.
Any member of the public can make representations, while public bodies including Thames Valley Police, Berkshire Fire and Rescue and Environmental Health will also be consulted.
If any objections are made, the decision could be taken to councillors as part of a Licensing hearings and appeals panel at Wokingham Borough Council.
